A Night At the Olympics - Trivia Night 2012

TriviaLogo2012You could be forgiven for thinking the Olympic Games arrived early at Chatswood High with torch bearers, equestrians, bobsledders, fencers, sailors, toga wearing athletes and basketball players packing the school Hall for a night of fun and entertainment.

CoolRunningsTableParents, carers, family, friends and teachers had the chance to pit their wits against each other in a few rounds of trivia led by Jacky from Planet Trivia. There were some tense moments with the competition very close but in the end "Cool Runnings" the Jamaican bobsled team made up of mainly Year 8 and 10 Parents took out first place. The Jamaicans were a force to be reckoned with on the night, as they went on to win the hotly contested best dressed table prize. Hayley Hummerston (Year 8 Parent) won the prize for the best dressed person with her fencer's costume.

StageYear 9 parent and singer/acoustic guitarist Andrew Stergio entertained the crowd during the breaks with his renditions of jazz, rock and alternative music from the 60's to now.

The hall was transformed into a shopper's paradise with restaurant meals, gym memberships, pet packs, gourmet food hampers, shoes, luxury bath packs to name a few of the items on offer by silent auction. LuckyEnvelopes SilentAuction SilentAuctionBaskets

Auctioneer Geoff Noble (Year 8 Parent) added to the excitement by securing some big dollars in the "live" auction with $2250 raised from the sale of a half day kayaking trip for 10 people, a chocolate fondue cooking lesson for 6 plus a week's accommodation at a Central Coast holiday house.

Over $2000 worth of prizes were given away on the night so there were many lucky winners with the major raffle prize comprising of accommodation and meals to the value of $350 donated by Hotel Urban, St Leonards.

There were lucky envelopes for sale plus some heads and tails coin questions that had the audience up on their feet. Altogether with seat sales and cash donations over $20,000 was raised. This is a mammoth achievement and after some small costs are deducted the money will go towards the new Multipurpose Learning Facility being planned alongside the School Hall.

A big thank you goes to the organisers and the many hard working volunteers who made the Trivia Night such a great success.

The winning students in the Basket Raffle Draw were Ben P and SaraAussieTeamh K, both from Year 8 who each took home a bag of goodies worth over $100.CoolRunnings
