STEM at Chatswood High School

At the February meeting of the P&C, Ms Julie Harrison, Head Teacher Science, presented a proposal for P&C funding for new equipment for the Engineering Department to replace a 40yr old material universal testing machine (cost $20,000) and a hardness testing machine (cost $5,000). A good discussion amongst parents ensued with strong support to boost STEM activities within the school. Five parents volunteered to form a working group with Ms Harrison to promote school extra-curricular STEM activities.

The P&C voted to pay $25,000 for these 2 pieces of equipment, which will assist in curriculum development toward a better pathway for years 9 & 10 students to technology & engineering courses in year 11 & 12.
