P&C Meeting Summaries

June 2013 P&C Meeting Summary

  • The P&C welcomed 3 yr 10 students to introduce the SRC's proposal to erect recycling bins around CHS. The SRC has made inquiries how to run this proposed scheme and has received quotes for different types of bins. The students received feedback from the P&C how to proceed with their project. Thank you Leiming Yu, Kesang Gilmore and Natasha Hartanto.
  • Amanda Perry has been voted CHS's new fundraising convener, Charlene Chen has been voted non office bearing executive P&C member. Welcome and thank you Amanda and Charlene!
  • Duke of Ed meeting had huge response (97 students!). Parents who are available to assist with any aspect of D of E should contact Deb Talbot.
  • Sue Low apologized for the unfortunate wording in the newsletter in relation to the CPS 'bush campus' proposal, and for the resulting confusion this has caused. The facts are: it is a proposal and a feasibility study at this stage, not a 'done deal', no CHS students will be moved off our campus in order to make way for the bush campus, the proposal will not impact CHS's use of the oval since CPS has agreed not to use it, it is a short term solution (3-5 years).
  • The P&C passed this motion in relation to this matter: CHS P&C would like to continue ongoing participation in the consultation process related to accommodating CPS students at CHS campus.
  • Suggestions were gathered for the 2013-2014 Strategic Plan which will govern how P&C funds are used to improve facilities for students at CHS. This year we have collected $38 000 - if you have not paid your 2013 P&C contribution please do so as 100% of all voluntary contributions go directly back into CHS.
  • Future projects for the P&C at CHS suggestions were: outdoor learning space improvements, demolition of old admin block, water bottle filling stations and refurbishment of existing bubblers, replacement of gym equipment, extension of locker system
  • The P&C will fund the installation of 12 more lockers
  • The P&C voted to become member of the North Sydney District Council for P&C's (formerly Northern Sydney Region)
